How much the Nevada County Fire Plan will cost you and how it works will be the subject of a public meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Madeline Helling Library in Nevada City.

A panel discussion of the issue will feature Kathleen Edwards, the county’s deputy fire marshal, local biologist Mark Chainey and North San Juan Fire District firefighter Bill Aufiero.

FatalVision ShootOut Sunday

The Grass Valley Elks Lodge will conduct a “FatalVision ShootOut” program, designed to demonstrate the impairment caused by drugs and alcohol, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Union Hill School.

Children between the ages 8-17 are challenged to shoot a basketball from the free throw line and then try to do the same wearing goggles that cause them to feel “impaired.”

The program is part of the Elks Lodge commitment in battling the drug problem on the homefront, said Carole Bryant, Grass Valley Elks Lodge secretary.
