The Sierra Nevada Cancer Center is presenting a spring writing workshop for cancer patients, survivors, their caregivers, and families. Molly Fisk will teach the workshop, a series of seven classes called “Writing to Heal.” The series begins April 5 and runs through May 24. The classes meet from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. A fee of $20 covers the series.

Nevada County Recycles wants young artists to participate in the design of its poster for Earth Day 2007.

The theme is recycling, with the intention of inspiring and promoting recycling in our community.

The age groupings are K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. The posters must be 11 x 17 inches in size and can include various media.

Winning posters will be printed and distributed to schools and appear in The Union newspaper, and winners will receive a certificate.
