Correll won’t seek third term

Diane Correll, who represents Penn Valley on the Nevada Joint Union High School District board of trustees, will not seek a third term when her seat comes up for election in November.

Correll said Friday she spent months considering whether to run for a third term and has spent time seeking support for someone to run in her spot. No one she contacted has expressed an interest in the seat as of yet, she said.

Seats occupied by Correll and school board President Charlie Compton have been targeted by a group of teachers and community members concerned about the turnover of administrators within the high school district and at Nevada Union High School.

Candidates for the two seats in November will, for the first time, be chosen by voters in the geographic area they represent, replacing an at-large system.
