Booths booking up at market

Mimi Boardman expects to have as many 30 booths set up for her third Sunday Market this weekend in the parking lot of the Stonehouse Restaurant in downtown Nevada City.

“We have 26 reservations right now,” the Stonehouse owner said Thursday morning. “Quite a few who were here last week are coming back again this weekend.”

The market that goes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the restaurant’s parking lot on Sacramento Street.

About 20 people set up booths at last Sunday’s affair, Boardman said. After reviewing reservations on Thursday, she said this week’s lineup includes antiques, art, custom-made jewelry, collectibles and old watches.

The event was launched on May 30 after Boardman received permission from the Nevada City council to conduct a four-week trial run in her parking lot.

The market received the approval after questions about parking and the quality of items being sold were resolved with the provision the event be reviewed at the council’s June 25 meeting.

Those interested in reserving booth space can visit and download the appropriate forms, or go to the restaurant at 107 Sacramento St. For more information, call 265-5050.
