Boot drive at Bottle Shop a success

Patrons of the Bottle Shop on Nevada City Highway in Grass Valley filled a firefighter’s boot with $353.59, which will be donated to the families of firefighters who lost their lives in the recent Esperanza Fire in Southern California.

Firefighters throughout western Nevada County held their traditional Boot Drive over the weekend. Tracy Prosser and her mother, Connie Modlin, both longtime Bottle Shop employees, held their own fundraiser on Saturday after reading about the drive’s mission in The Union.

“Nobody thought we would (fill it) because they’re such big boots,” Prosser said.
