Benefit for Petersen family Friday night

A benefit will be held from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday at the Nevada City Elks Lodge for Shelly Petersen and her two sons, who recently lost their Penn Valley home to fire.

The evening will have food, music and dancing to ’50s and ’60s music. The charge is $10 and the lodge is at 510 Highway 49, just north of the Rood Center.

The Lifetime Foundation recently gave some bedding and furniture to the Petersens, who lost everything in the recent blaze. Donations for the family are also being accepted at HP Automotive, 17145 Apache Court in Penn Valley.
