Don’t be surprised on Saturday, Nov. 30, to see some of your favorite Nevada County citizens ringing bells for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Fund-raising Program. It’s the way the Salvation Army hopes to bring attention to their biggest fund-raising effort of the year.

Terry McAteer, Nevada County’s Superintendent of Schools, will be out ringing the Salvation Army Bell, and he has corralled other school officials to participate. Scott Lay of Clear Creek, Ron Fivelstad of Union HIll and Gary Bowman of Camptonville will also be ringing for the kettle drive.

Monty East, the real estate executive and Jim Moss from The Union will station themselves on a corner along with many other citizens, clanging for the Salvation Army.

During the Christmas season, the Salvation Army raises 80 percent of all its donations. These funds sustain the organization’s programs throughout the year. All the funds collected will be put to use in Nevada County.
