Bedwell to ask for NH 2020 update

What happened to that lightning rod of the 2002 elections? Remember Natural Heritage 2020, the controversial study of Nevada County’s natural resources?

At Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors’ meeting, a leading NH 2020 critic, Supervisor Drew Bedwell, is expected to ask the planning department for a presentation on how reports from the study are being used.

Bedwell said a constituent asked about the study’s status at his Jan. 28 town hall meeting.

During last fall’s campaign against then-incumbent Bruce Conklin, Bedwell led a rally call against NH 2020, calling the survey an infringement on property rights.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda are a resolution to adopt the county’s goals and objectives for 2003-04, and an update on the Second Dwelling Unit Pilot Program.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the Rood Administrative Center in the board chambers.
