A seemingly smart visitor came to a property near Cascade Shores recently.

According to Diana Dresbach, who has property on Quaker Ridge Road on the way to Scotts Flat Lake, a good-sized bear dropped by for a meal.

Dresbach wrote in an email the bear seems to have figured out how close it can get without setting off a motion detector alarm. She wrote the bear stayed nearer smaller trees with less fruit on them, avoiding the bigger trees that were within range of the detector.

She added the bear would lay flat out on its belly, using its elbows to pull close enough to grab the next peach on the ground.
