Battling West Nile

Donna Levin of Nevada City examines a free plastic bag filled with mosquito fish (Gambusia affinis), a type of guppy planted in ponds to reproduce and feed on mosquito larvae, in the parking lot of the Nevada County Resource Conservation District recently. About 8,000 mosquito fish were handed out by the Nevada County West Nile Task Force to prevent spread of the potentially fatal disease.
