Bail raised in Sutton case

Scott Sutton remained in custody Friday on charges of burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and committing a felony while out on his own recognizance.

Sutton, 30, of Grass Valley, had been arrested Oct. 3 on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run resulting in injury, driving under the influence and causing an injury and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was released that evening on $26,000 bail.

“We do not release people on their own recognizance on felony charges,” said Nevada County Sheriff’s Capt. Frank Koehler. “He posted bail.”

Sutton allegedly broke into a Grass Valley residence Thursday morning and was arrested again after an altercation at his home later that day. His bail is currently set at $75,000.
