Award offered for stolen backpack at Empire Mine

A woman’s car window was smashed and her black Outdoor Products backpack reportedly stolen while she was hiking in Empire Mine State Park on Monday evening.

Her car was parked in the Penn Gate parking lot on East Empire Street with several other vehicles, she said.

The thief later charged several hundreds of dollars’ worth of groceries on her credit card before it could be canceled. There were several personal items and a state-issued cell phone in the bag. She said she is offering a reward for the backpack’s return.

“I am in a world of hurt,” she said Wednesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sharon at 320-6469.
