Authorities arrest suspect in road rage shooting

The suspect authorities pursued near Grass Valley last week in connection with a Roseville road rage shooting incident has been arrested in West Sacramento, the California Highway Patrol said Thursday.

According to the CHP, the suspect, Jose Manuel Nava-Aguilar, 29, address unknown, was taken into custody without incident Tuesday. The suspect was booked at the Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of shooting at a Honda July 26 on Intestate 80 near Douglas Boulevard, the CHP added. The Honda’s two occupants were not hurt.

Nava-Aguilar, a felon, was also booked on suspicion of methamphetamine possession and child endangerment, the CHP said. He was in a truck with his 24-year-old girlfriend and her 3 year-old son when the alleged shooting took place.

On Aug. 1, CHP officers from Grass Valley and North Sacramento, and officers from the Nevada County Sheriff’s department, converged on Pine Cone Court off Rattlesnake Road south of Grass Valley to search for the suspect. A CHP plane assisted in the search.

The suspect’s truck was found at a house on Pine Cone Court but the man was not there, the CHP said.

Nava-Aguilar is an illegal alien, according to the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
