Assemblyman Logue announces campaign for Congress

Assemblyman Dan Logue (R-Marysville) has announced his candidacy for the Congressional district seat currently held by John Garamendi.

Logue said he was running for the 3rd Congressional District seat “to help create new jobs, stop the reckless spending that has put the nation $16.8 billion in debt and help make Washington work better for working people.”

As Vice Chairman of the powerful Assembly Health Committee, he has taken the lead in opposing Obamacare, he said in a press release.

Logue promised to continue his efforts to make higher education more affordable and improve the quality of health care as a member of Congress.

Logue said he looked forward to an open and honest discussion of the issues with Congressman John Garamendi.

He noted that one major difference between himself and the incumbent was Garamendi’s support for the “government takeover of health care as it costs too much, will slow the economic recovery and allows for an un-elected group of bureaucrats to ration health care.”

Logue, who was born in Woodland and grew up in Yolo County, said he knows the district very well, having lived in or represented five of the eight counties in the 3rd Congressional seat.

The district includes Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Solano, Sutter, Yuba and Yolo counties, as well as the northern portion of Sacramento County.
