Second and third graders at Mount Saint Mary’s recently enjoyed exploring the art of working with acrylics.

Thanks to teacher Denise Way of ARTsCool, students learned how to blend paints, use different parts of their brushes, and how to shadow their paintings.

The children took their instructions seriously while painting pictures of whales and dolphins. Finished products showed how well they could blend colors to clearly define water, mountains, and the sky.

ARTsCool is a locally based program aimed at school children ages 7-15. Their goal is to get young people in touch with their artistic side by providing formal visual arts instruction.
