Art Works Gallery in downtown Grass Valley held their second, Second Saturday Spotlight over the weekend where featured artists were on hand to provide some insight into their craft, including the supplies and approach they use to create art.

Susan Lobb-Porter and Eileen Blodgett both showcased their approaches to mixed media painting with live demonstrations while jewelry artist Rosemary Stokes offered a mini class on how to make a bracelet.

On the second Saturday of every month, featured artists will be at the gallery to give demonstrations, classes, or to display more of their work. Visitors will get the chance to learn about each artist’s creative process.

The next artist’s spotlight will take place June 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. and will feature a new set of the co-op gallery’s artists.

Art Works Gallery has been providing more than 30 Grass Valley and Nevada City artists a space to display their work since they formed the co-op in 2010.
