Applications in for vacant seat on Nevada Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees

The Nevada Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees has received three applications for its vacant board seat, district officials said.

The board will move forward with interviewing candidates at its next regular public meeting, set for 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Bear River High School.

The board is expected to appoint its new member by majority vote at that meeting.

The approved candidate will fill the seat formerly held by Jim Adams. Adams, who had served on the board since September 2011, resigned last month after announcing he was moving out of his rental home in trustee Area 4, the area he represents on the board.

State law dictates that school board members must reside in the area they represent.

Adams’ last day on the board was Sept. 30.

The appointed candidate will serve the remainder of Adams’ term, which runs through early December 2016.
