Anti-drug speaker will appear Friday

Anti-drug and anti-suicide speaker Duane DeGravel will speak at 7 p.m. Friday at Word-A-Live Family Church, 10528 Spenceville Road in Penn Valley, across from the Penn Valley Fire Department. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

DeGravel will speak about how his high school booted him out for poor grades and unruly behavior 27 years ago. He started using drugs at the age of 12, and by 1996, he had to face the reality of his choices, the effect it had on his loved ones and the suicide of his 19-year-old son. The speech is free and geared to youth.
