Annoying political ads

I am writing to you today on behalf of an issue that bothers me, as well as my friends and family. You may also be extremely bothered by the countless political advertisements that we see on television each and every day.

It is an election, and I understand that people want to get their voices heard, but such television ads run too frequently and, in my mind, do not help the election at all.

The process goes like this:

First, we see an advertisement that favors one side of the argument. Second, we see one that discredits every point of the original commercial. Then, the creators of the first commercial discredit what the second commercial stated

This process repeats itself multiple times for multiple issues, and the mudslinging escalates with every new commercial. Not only does the common man not know what to believe, if he is anything like me, he changes the channel and tries to avoid the issues as much as possible.

Based on what I have personally seen, such ads lead to a lower voter turnout, completely defeating the purpose of the commercial itself.

I believe that if the average voter wants to know about an issue, he or she can look it up on the Official Voter Information Guide, where there are no biases to the issues of an election.

A commercial now and again isn’t such a bad thing, but when three or five commercials are trash-talking a person or proposition, it is doing more harm than good.
