Eldon Cyrus sits inside a tree he felled next to the Western Gateway Park Pavilion in Penn Valley Monday morning. The partner in Cyrus Tree Service used a 42-inch chain saw to cut the 21-foot circumference white oak. The tree was about 1,000 years old when a large limb broke off in November. It was discovered that the tree was hollow, so it was felled for safety reasons.
