Altar Show prep begins at fairgrounds

Sam Hughes of Rough and Ready sits with his Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer altar Tuesday afternoon. The Altar Show will have a 10-day run at the Nevada County Fairgrounds’ Northern Mines building. Admission and parking to the event are free; it’s open from noon to 8 p.m. every day. At 7 p.m. Friday, there will be a promenade and blessing of the community altar with Stan Padilla, starting from Gate 1. The opening reception will be held Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
