Adopt a dog on Saturday

Dogs that have been rescued and need good homes will be waiting to meet their future humans at an adopt-a-thon hosted by Scooters’ Pals from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Mutley’s Pet Emporium, 627 E. Main St., in Grass Valley.

One of the dogs that prospective families can meet is Mandy, She is a golden Labrador retriever/chow chow mix who was rescued from the fires in San Diego, according to adopt-a-thon organizer Susan Wallace. She is two years old, has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and is healthy.

“She needs to be an only dog if possible,” Wallace said. “She’s not agressive, but needy.”

People also can get their current pets microchipped; please bring you pet leashed or crated for his or her safety.

“We hope to have no more lost pets in Nevada County by our efforts to microchip our community’s animals,” Wallace said. “We are grateful for donations, but there is no charge for this service to Nevada County companion animals.”

A raffle of prizes also will be held.

For information call Wallace at 350-2099 or 301-9335 or e-mail to See the other dogs available for adoption at
