Accident victim recovering

A man who drove his car off the Golden Center Freeway and down an embankment in Nevada City, nearly running into a hotel, was recuperating at home Monday with relatively minor injuries.

Brooks D. Blodgett, 18, was driving east on the freeway Friday when he reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel at about 1:15 p.m., said his father, Robert Blodgett. The teenager’s 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier rolled several times down a 30-foot embankment and landed within a foot of a section of the housemaid’s quarters at the Northern Queen Inn.

Blodgett was taken by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, with a deep cut to his head that had to be stapled, a cut above his eye, and a cut to his hand, Robert Blodgett said. Blodgett said his son did not have any brain or spine injuries.
