Absentee ballots have to be in on Election Day

The deadline to return absentee ballots is Tuesday, Election Day.

Completed ballots must be received at the Elections Office or a polling place by 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Postmarks are invalid because state law mandates that only ballots returned by the time the polls close on Election Day can be counted. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters who mail their absentee ballots should allow enough time for them to be delivered to the Elections Office by Tuesday.

Voters who missed the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot and cannot go to the polls can vote at the Elections Office from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. today and Monday, and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The office is located at the HEW building, 10433 Willow Valley Road, Suite E, Nevada City.
