A night of remembrance

Grass Valley’s St. Patrick’s Catholic Church held a Mass and celebration of the life Tuesday night of Pope John Paul II, who died Saturday. Members of St. Patrick’s and St. Canice Catholic Church in Nevada City offered flowers in remembrance of the pope. The Rev. Tim Nondorf of St. Patrick’s officiated at a Mass that also included the ringing of church bells once for each of the 26 years of the pope’s role as leader of the Roman Catholic Church. Students of the adjacent Mount St. Mary’s Academy offered prayer while members of the church choir provided songs.
