A great day at the lake for local Big Brothers Big Sisters

More than 20 children from Big Brothers Big Sisters went to Bullards Bar last month on a fishing trip with members of the Gold Country Gobblers, a chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

This is the sixth year that members of the local turkey club took the children from Big Brothers Big Sisters fishing, according to Dick Law, a former board member with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.

Besides fishing, the children received gifts, including a fishing pole and tackle, and enjoyed a barbecue by the lake, Law said.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County is the local chapter of a national group that provides mentoring for young boys and girls.
