6,441 lose power; cause unknown

An estimated 6,441 PG&E customers lost power in the Penn Valley and Lake Wildwood areas Monday night.

The problem occurred at 6:15 p.m. on one of the power company’s main 60,000-volt lines, said Lisa Randle, a spokeswoman for Pacific Gas & Electric.

“This is a large outage for that area,” Randle said.

Randle said PG&E expected to have power restored by 9:20 p.m. Monday. Power returned for some as early as 8 p.m. However, the cause was still unclear late Monday, and PG&E was investigating exactly what led to the outage.
