2002 Candidate Fair

The 2002 Candidates Fair, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Western Nevada County and the American Association of University Women, is set for Saturday at the Glenbrook Shopping Center in Grass Valley.

The public is invited to meet local, state and national candidates on the Nov. 5 ballot.

The Candidates’ Fair will be in the Inter-County Title Co./Network Real Estate parking lot, 11855 Sutton Way, Grass Valley, from 1 to 5 p.m.



Local broadcast and print media invited to cover the fair include Foothill Community Access Television (FCAT), KNCO and KVMR radios, and The Union.

The following candidates are scheduled to attend:




State offices and Congress

— U.S. Rep District 4 – Mark Norberg

— State Senator District 4 – Marianne Smith and Robert Underwood

— State Assembly District 3 – Jon Petersen and Stuart King

— Board of Equalization – Tom Santos

State and Congressional candidates sending representatives

— Governor – Bill Simon, represented by Fran Freedle

— Lt. Governor – Donna Warren, five representatives

— Insurance Commissioner – David Sheidlower, represented by Beth Hanes-Moore

Nevada County

— District 3 Supervisor – Bruce Conklin and Drew Bedwell

— District 4 Supervisor – Elizabeth “Izzy” Martin, Robin Sutherland, Rene Antonson

— Grass Valley City Council – Patti Ingram, Gerard Tassone, Newell Taylor, Lisa Swarthout

— Nevada Irrigation District, Division l – Nancy Weber, Alfred Scheinert, Sterling Honea; Division ll – John Drew, Ron Mathis

— Ophir Hill Fire District – Jeff Wagner

— Peardale-Chicago Park Fire District – Phil Voelz

— Grass Valley School District – Bonnie Taylor, Jerry Martin, Paula Roediger

— Nevada City School District – Margaret Meagher plus two representatives
