Two drivers had minor injuries from a Highway 49 collision south of Grass Valley Tuesday.

At about 1:10 p.m. near Smith Road, traffic stalled after Daniel E. Lewis’ southbound 1990 Acura skidded into the oncoming lane and collided with a 1991 Chevy truck driven by Richard Ratto, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Ratto, 53, of Auburn was treated and released after his ambulance trip to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, and Lewis, 19, of Grass Valley was on the verge of being released Tuesday night, a supervising nurse said.

Ratto suffered an injured chest, chin, left hand and right knee, and Lewis had a forehead cut and abrasion and lower back pain, CHP Officer George Kirbyson said.
