2 groups give endorsements to Duane Strawser, Ed Scofield in supervisor races

The Sierrans for Responsible Resource Development has endorsed Duane Strawser for the District 1 Board of Supervisors’ seat.

In a related race, the Nevada County Contractors Association has endorsed Ed Scofield for the District 2 supervisor seat.

Nevada County voters will choose winners for both seats on June 7.

Strawser is running against Heidi Hall for the District 1 seat. Scofield faces Richard Harris in the District 2 race.

“Duane has indicated he is open to all industries in Nevada County and that he supports the creation of local jobs and local opportunities for Nevada County’s residents and businesses,” a release from the Sierrans states.

The Sierrans represent people who currently work or have worked in the natural resources industry, which includes recreation. It has about 50 members, said David Watkinson, the Sierrans’ board chairman.

Keoni Allen, chairman of the Nevada County Contractors Association’s Political Action Committee, lauded Scofield in a release.

“Ed has a long history of serving our community,” Allen states. “We believe that Ed’s experience, proven leadership and his dedication make him the right choice for District 2 Supervisor.”

The contractors association, which has 364 members, also has endorsed Strawser for District 1.
