Local fitness advocate releases her second book

For those of you who have followed fitness advocate Carole Carson in her columns about reinventing herself, you’ll be delighted to know her new book is out, her second.

“From Fat to Fit: Turn Yourself into a Weapon of Mass Reduction” continues her message that being fit and losing weight can actually be fun. Carson will talk about it on Saturday, March 31, at The Book Seller, 107 Mill St., Grass Valley at 3 p.m.

Just before turning 60, Carson decided to lose weight. She lost 62 pounds, a saga that was chronicled in The Union newspaper, and Carson invited others to join the fun. Inspired by her example, more than a thousand ordinary people teamed up to lose nearly 4 tons of fat in two months during the 2004 Nevada County Meltdown.

Besides writing a regular health and fitness column, she hosts a weekly community television show, “The Tipping Point.”

In addition, she has appeared on NBC’s “Today Show,” CBS’s “The Early Show,” MSNBC’s “Countdown,” and CNN news and national radio. Carson lives in Nevada City.

Call the book store at 272-2131 for more information.
