Lloyd Hess " sponsored obituary

Lloyd Hess, 84, died Monday, March 12, 2007. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Elsie Mason Manor.

Mr. Hess was born in Hood River, Oregon. He attended college at City College of New York with interests in Art and Architecture. He married Judy Filippone in the Bronx, N.Y., on March 7, 1942, and they enjoyed 61 years together. He enlisted during World War II and was attached to both the Navy and the Marines serving as a Sea Bee in the South Pacific.

Following the war he and Judy moved to New Jersey buying a farm from which to supply eggs and chickens to New York City. Their four daughters were born during this time. He loved to travel and found his way to do just that with his talents in construction.

Survivors include four daughters, Gloria Heller and husband, Bob of Scottsdale, Arizona, Beverly Axmacher and husband, Charlie, of Amarillo, Texas, Betty Jenkins and husband, Lynn, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Rita Stevens and husband, Michael, of Nevada City, CA; eight grandchildren, Greg Heller, Mike Heller, Bryan Heller, Chuck Axmacher and wife Michelle, Mindy Burns and husband J.W., Sarah Caylor and husband Geoffrey Batchen, Ben Jenkins and wife, Jamie, and Jennifer Barros and husband, Jeff; and five great-grandchildren, Andrew Barros, Marcus Barros, Alec Jenkins, Felix Caylor and Chas Axmacher.
