Lawrence William Pinckney, 60

Lawrence William Pinckney,

AKA “Larry Larue,” passed away

peacefully September 25, 2009, at

the age of 60, after his 2 year battle

with a rare brain cancer.

Larry was born January 9, 1949

in Sacramento to Clarence and

Virginia Pinckney and was the only

child. It was there he lived until

drafted into the US Army. Upon

his return from Vietnam, Larry

backpacked Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and

South America before returning to the states.

Larry enjoyed travel, horticulture, gaming, and horse

racing. He was a marching president in the Constitution

Day parade for many years and was a local face to many.

Though not re-married, he was in a committed

relationship with Suzanne Morales of Nevada City. Larry

is survived by his only child, Kristin Pinckney, 25, of Grass

Valley.

A service will be held graveside at Greenwood Memorial

Gardens in Grass Valley on Friday, October 16 at 3 p.m. All

are welcome to attend the service. A reception will follow

at the Veteran’s Hall in Nevada City. In lieu of flowers, the

family has requested that any donations be made to the

Larry Pinckney Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.
