Lives Lived: Larry Danzer

Larry A. Danzer died peacefully Aug. 20 surrounded by his loving family. He was 66.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Larry was born Jan. 29, 1944, in El Monte, Calif. He joined the U.S. Army at an early age and completed three years of honorable service. Larry resided in the Sacramento area in the mid-1960s. He owned and operated a Standard Oil Station there before moving to Grass Valley in the 1970s to work for Lucky’s for 25 years.

In his retirement, Larry was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels as well as an avid outdoorsman, fishing regularly with family and friends. He enjoyed travel, visiting Reno, Scotland, Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii and other destinations. Everyone who knew Larry loved him; he was a wonderful person that will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife Carol of Penn Valley; children Evonne (Don) Madison of Applegate, Monica (Tony) Rivas of Roseville, Catriona Braid of Penn Valley and Gavin Braid of San Francisco; grandchildren Jeremy, Julia, Kaitlyn and Alexa; brother Wayne Danzer; and sisters Darlene Thouvenall and Ellen Trowbridge.

In lieu of flowers, make contributions in his name to Hospice of the Foothills or AnimalSave.

Arrangements are by Chapel of the Angels Mortuary and Crematory, Grass Valley.
