Lives Lived: Florence Crenshaw

Florence Virginia Crenshaw, a life-long resident of Grass Valley, died Feb. 17 in Grass Valley. She was 85.

According to her wishes, no service will be held. A private interment will take place at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Nevada City.

She was born on May 9, 1924, in San Francisco to John and Laura DeFilippi. She attended elementary schools in Rough and Ready and graduated from Grass Valley High School in 1942.



She married the love of her life, Phillip Crenshaw, on March 21, 1942, in Minden, Nev.

Mrs. Crenshaw loved square dancing and belonged to the Rough and Ready Square Dancers Club. She also enjoyed round dancing.




She is survived by her husband, Phil Crenshaw, of Grass Valley; sons, Daniel (Laura) Crenshaw of Loomis, and Michael (Peggy) Crenshaw of Temecula; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Alma, Julio and Louie.

Arrangements are by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
