Lives Lived: Emma Collins

Emma Jean “Nanny” Collins died Jan. 16 in Grass Valley. She was 71.

A celebration of life and a potluck will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at her home.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1938, in Michigan.

She married Raymond “Chub” Collins, and they lived in Smartsville for 45 years, raising a family and running a small cattle ranch.

Mrs. Collins worked hard to tend her beautiful flower garden, yet still found time for her art.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Vicky) Collins; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Jaimie; and her sister, Donna Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and Burdella Belknap and Glenn Gilliam, her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
