Lives Lived: Dollie Calaway

Dollie May Calaway died March 30 in Grass Valley, with her daughter Linda Mack by her side.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday. April 9, in Visalia, her hometown of 30 years, at the Visalia Cemetery. The Rev. John Runner will officiate.

Mrs. Calaway was born in Blachard, Okla., to Wiley Harris Dodd and Mrytle Eunity (Bryant) Dodd. She had three sisters and two brothers. She married Frank Coy Calaway on Feb. 23, 1941, in Chickasha, Okla.

Her hobbies were shopping, knitting and being with family. She was a dishwasher and waiter at the age of 16 until she moved to California. In 1956, she became a factory worker until she retired in 1973. She moved to Visalia in 1974. She was a very loving, caring mother and friend.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Mack of Grass Valley; Jason (Sandra) Mack; Jill Bennallack; Janelle Dallago; son, Bill (Kathy) Calaway of Visalia; Don, Greg, Stephanie, Jeffery (Tessa) Calaway and Andrew Dallago, Brenda Mack of Marysville and Shelly Sutton of Roseville; great-grandchildren Breiana, Cameron, Austin, Elizabeth, Carson, Lauren, Madelyn, Kiannah and many extended grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Coy Calaway, beloved son, Ricky Coy Calaway and son in-law, Phil Mack.

She will be missed.
