Lives Lived: Billy Andrews

Billy E. Andrews, a former Grass Valley resident, died Feb. 28 at home in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. He was 74.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at the home of Derrick and Diane Andrews at 2425 Duarte Road, Penryn, Calif., 95663. A eulogy will be at 1 p.m., with refreshments to follow.

He was born Aug. 22, 1935, and attended school in Grass Valley. After high school, he joined the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. After his military service, he attended Sierra College.



On Jan. 24, 1959, he married Judy Pendergraft in Minden, Nev.

In 1992, he retired, and the Andrews moved to Glenns Ferry. Mr. Andrews assisted with the Carmella Vineyards Golf Course and taught golf at Glenns Ferry High School for three years.




He loved life and people, and brought a positive energy wherever he went. He enjoyed the outdoors, golf, fishing and hunting.

Mr. Andrews is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy of Glenns Ferry; children, Jefferey (Polli) Andrews, of Glenns Ferry, Derrick (Diane) Andrews of Penryn, and Marta Powaser of Folsom; siblings, Milton Smith Andrews of Nevada, and Jhonnie Horne of California; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
