Lives Lived: Barbara Kouns

Barbara L. Kouns died Feb. 18. She was 86.

Burial will be held at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Kouns was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Leominster, Mass., to William F. Landers and Uriel (Morin) Landers.



She married Nelson Kouns on April 12, 1946, in Leominster, Mass.

Mrs. Kouns was a homemaker and a dental assistant who loved gardening and her loving family.




She is survived by her son, Steve Kouns of Nevada City; daughter-in-law, Toni Kouns of Nevada City, and granddaughters Nicky Feinstein of Orangevale and Heather Kouns of San Diego.

She was predeceased by her mother, Uriel R. Landers in 1984; father, William F. Landers in 1985; husband, Nelson H. Kouns in 2007, and son, Dennis M. Kouns in 2009.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
