Lisa Haley brings her swamp rock to town

Zydeco lovers will want to be at the Center for the Arts this Saturday to see Lisa Haley & The Zydekats.

Haley is a fourth-generation fiddler who has studied under Cajun masters Queen Ida, Joe Simien and Canray Fontenot. The fiddler has recorded with groups such as John Hyatt, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Dramarama and Zydeco Party Band. She has also performed with Randy Newman, Lyle Lovett and Queen Ida.

Since forming in 1995, The Zydekats has performed regularly in the United States, Europe and Japan, including headlining at the International Cajun & Zydeco Fest in Holland, the Bury National Cajun & Zydeco Fest in the United Kingdom, and the Santa Barbara International Jazz Fest.



The Zydekats are Gary Ferguson on drums and percussion, Chuck Alvarez on guitar and vocals, Skip Edwards on keyboards and accordion, and Andy Anders on bass and vocals.

Saturday’s show begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $15. The center is at 314 W. Main St. in Grass Valley. Call 274-8384 for more information.
