Linnie Eaton

Visitation for family and friends of Linnie Mae Eaton of Grass Valley will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley, with the Rev. Richard Atkins officiating.

Mrs. Eaton died Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Grass Valley. She was 64.



She was born April 1, 1938, in Cripple Creek, Colo., to Lathen and Linnie Van Meter. She moved from Cripple Creek to Grass Valley when she was 2. She attended local schools and graduated from Grass Valley High School. She married Donald L. Eaton on May 15, 1954, in Reno.

She worked for Valet Carpet and Dry Cleaning Service for many years. She served as her three sons’ room mother, Scout leader and committee member of activities they were involved in. She was a past member of Bethel Church. She enjoyed her family.




She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald L. Eaton of Grass Valley; mother, Linnie Van Meter of Grass Valley; sister, Ida Dufrene of Louisiana; grandchildren Angela and Jessie Eaton of Grass Valley and David Borem of Fort Campbell, Ky. ; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons Donald, Bruce and Robert Eaton; and brothers L.P. and Billy Van Meter.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
