Linda Benoit

Services for Linda Rae Benoit, of Penn Valley, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.

Mrs. Benoit died Thursday, Oct. 12, at home after an 18-month battle with cancer. She was 54.

She was born Feb. 28, 1952, in Port Angeles, Wash., to Raymond and Celeste Thompson. She graduated from Buena Park High School in Orange County and attended Whittier College. She married Thomas “Tom” Benoit on June 7, 1987, in Orange County. She was self-employed as a paralegal. She was a member of Rotary. She enjoyed photography, drama, reading and spending special times with her daughters.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas “Tom” Benoit of Penn Valley; daughters Colleen, Rachel and Shannon Benoit of Penn Valley; stepsons Brian and Nathan Benoit of Orange County; stepmother, Rosemary Thompson of Port Angeles, Wash.; granddaughters Anastasia Farmer of Penn Valley and Alannah and Ashley Benoit of Orange County; son-in-law, Thomas Farmer; daughter-in-law, Amanda Benoit; and father-in-law, Joseph Benoit. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Celeste Thompson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley, 95945.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
