Lila Lowell

Lila (Hobson) Lowell, 79, of Grass Valley died Wednesday, April 6, in Grass Valley.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services. Her ashes will be scattered at sea in Carmel.

Mrs. Lowell was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Grass Valley to Ona and V.T. “Pete” Hobson. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1944 to 1945. She was one of the first female welders at Kysers in Richmond during World War II. She was married to Lawrence Lowell from 1945 to 1957. She worked for Physics International for 22 years as a computer supervisor. She enjoyed gardening.



She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Jeanne Hobson of Chico; niece, Patty Hobson of Chico; and nephews Roger Hobson of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Donald Hobson of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, L.L. Lowell, in 1962.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
