Lewis Davis

Private memorial services for Lewis Davis of Grass Valley will be conducted at Lake Tahoe at a later date.

Mr. Davis died Wednesday, Oct. 9, at home. He was 85.

He was born in 1917 in Seattle. He was a retired structural engineer and designer.

He enjoyed skiing and won the Canadian national championships in 1939, and was honored with a ticker-tape parade. He was Olympic bound for Norway when World War II intervened. He continued skiing until he was 83.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Iris Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Linda Davis of Canada; sisters Drucilla Morrison of Seattle and Fern Shively of San Carlos; stepsons and step-daughters-in-law Mark and Jody Harris of Scotts Valley and Richard and Cynthia Harris of Grass Valley; stepsons Kevin Harris of Sonora and Paul Harris of San Anselmo; grandchildren Blake and Scott Davis; step-grandchildren Ryan, Spencer, Chase and Taylor Harris; and four great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his son, Carl Davis.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
