Last night, I saw the first of five plays that are being performed in the Black Box Theatre on the Nevada Union School Campus (see specific details of plays and times in the Prospector’s calendar). Stephanie Bayne directed Katherine Carlsberg, Catie Cleary, Jon Viola and Kyle Donart in “Proof,” a play about love and mathematics. With few but well-chosen props, music and lighting, Stephanie was able to get her actors to dig deep into their acting abilities to produce an amazing production. Traditionally, the NU Advanced Drama students present a Big Spring Play in the Don Baggett Theater, but this year they chose to do five “little” plays. If the rest of the series is as good as the first, we are all in for a tremendous treat. I encourage everyone to see at least one of these plays … I personally have tickets for all five. As with the other performing arts at NU, they need your continued support and encouragement. Believe me, you will not be disappointed!
