Leslie Rich

Private services will be held for Leslie LaMar Rich who passed away on March 4 at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley. He was 81.

Mr. Rich was born on March 27, 1925, in San Diego.

Mr. Rich was a U.S. Army Paratrooper with the 509th Paratrooper Infantry Battalion during World War II. In 1943, he was wounded in Belgium and was honorably discharged in 1945.



On April 23, 1954, Mr. Rich married Carolyn in San Diego.

Mr. Rich worked for the city of Nevada City for 21 years. Eleven of those years were spent with the fire department, and he spent 10 years as the water treatment plant operator.




He was a member of the Firefighters Association of Nevada City. Mr. Rich’s hobbies included piloting airplanes and astronomy.

Mr. Rich is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Lisa Rich of Nevada City; daughter and son-in-law, Wendye and Jim Stuller of Loma Rica; sister-in-law, Joan Cramer of Nevada City; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, and son, Christopher.
