Leroy Christenson

Leroy Cal “Chris” Christenson Sr., 80, of North San Juan died Sunday, Feb. 27, in Grass Valley.

No services are planned.

Mr. Christenson was born June 18, 1924, in Nevada City, to Cal Christenson and Hazel Morrison. He served in the U.S. Army Engineer-Airborne Ranger from 1943 to 1946, during World War II. He married Iola Parks on July 19, 1947, in Reno, Nev. He worked in the timber industry, retiring from Robinson Timber in 1989. He enjoyed fishing, home remodeling, and spending time with his family.



He is survived by his wife, Iola Christenson of North San Juan; son and daughter-in-law, Leroy Christenson Jr. and Debbie Christenson of Pahoa, Hawaii; daughters and sons-in-law Julie and John Taylor of Nevada City, and Cindy and Ray Thomas of Grass Valley; son, Jeffrey Christenson of North San Juan; former son-in-law, Kenneth Jaynes of Nevada City; grandchildren Levi, Anne, Connie, Derek, Matthew, Christy and Jacob; and great-grandchildren Chyhenne, Sheneisa, Shasta, Savannah, George, Kalie, Totyanna, Msineiko, A.J., Hanna, and Levi Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, or Shriners Hospital.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
