Leona Peterson

Friends and family are encouraged to attend a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the Living Faith Community Church, 4825 Roselle Ave. in Modesto for Leona W. (Adolph) Peterson. Mrs. Peterson passed away Oct. 13 in Grass Valley. She was 73.

Mrs. Peterson was born April 16, 1934, to Tony and Anna Adolph in Altamont, S.D. She was the second of six children and grew up working on the farm.

In 1965, she moved her family to California. Here, she worked at the Sundial Restaurant for 35 years. After retirement, she sewed for family and friends.



Mrs. Peterson is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Peterson) Rieker; son, Jeff Peterson; grandchildren Harold Rieker Jr., Tyler Peterson, Brendon Peterson and Kelsey Peterson; great-grandchildren Harold Rieker III and Caiden Peterson; sisters Doris Wohlleber, Mildred Tempel, Margie Griepp and Phyllis Buus; brother, Barth Adolph; and countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Kenneth Peterson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006, or to Hospice of the Foothills, 2399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley, CA 95945.
