Lela Black

Services for Lela Dorothea Black of Grass Valley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Burial will be at Sierra Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Nevada City.

Mrs. Black died Friday, Feb. 4, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. She was 80.

She was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Oxnard to Claude Cunningham and Fidella Meacham. She was a high school graduate. She worked for Beautician Fountain of Charm in Santa Ana. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, needlework, and homemaking. She was an avid seamstress.



She is survived by her husband, Robert Marian Black of Grass Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Claudette and James Harrington of Grass Valley; son and daughter-in-law, John and Jean Black of Santa Ana; and niece, Diane Bennison of Grass Valley. She was preceded in death by her sister, Claudia Bennison in 1998.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
