Third grade: Chelsea Arnold, Riley Ballard, Haley Blair, Emily Garcia, Emerson Helmuth, Peter McDowell and McKenna Toles.

Fourth grade: Mira Earles, Blue Jansma, Cameron Manchester, Celeste Mazon, Hannah Reinhardt and Ashley Smith.




Fifth grade: Abigail Carothers, Jacob Collins, Jelena Lomeli, Josey Poppin, Kaila Reader and Joel Sauter.

Sixth grade: Tyler Grebe and Jesse Poppin.

Lilah Sutphen earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California, Davis, with a major in sociology and a minor in education on June 14.

Sutphen, a 2003 graduate of Nevada Union High School, plans to attend the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego to obtain a juris doctor degree and practice of law.

Jonathan Gibilisco of Penn Valley was recently awarded a $1,000 aviation scholarship by the Sutter Buttes Chapter of 99s – an international organization of women pilots – to further his education to attain his Airframe and Powerplant license.

Gibilisco is enrolled at Redstone College of Aviation Technology in Broomfield, Colo. He is a 2006 graduate of Bear River High School, where his senior project was on becoming a professional pilot.

He is the son of Tina Gibilisco and John W. Halpin of Penn Valley.
